Home > Pavilion > Cast Members > The Break Room Standing, walking, and generally attending to the attraction and guests can be physically exhausting. What many people don't realize is that it's also emotionally exhausting, being "in character" or "on" all the time while "on stage". Even the most enthusiastic Cast Member needs to get "off stage" for a few minutes, to be themselves, to unwind and recharge. Like all Future World pavilions, Universe of Energy has its own break room, where the Cast can do just that. There Cast Members can kick back on a well-worn sofa, visit with their friends and fellow Cast Members, even share "war stories" of working in the park. Here in our "virtual break room", you can share in some Univserse of Energy humor, cast memories, even a few "war stories". You'll find that the selections at right fit into two categories. First there's "Energy Humor". The remaining selections are cast memories and stories. Disney, EPCOT & Energy Humor The breakroom and adjacent Lead Office were great places to post comic strips and other humorous items that related to our very unique jobs. Comics depicting dinosaurs in various ways were obvious favorites; other times, seemingly unrelated pieces could take on a whole new meaning just by changing a caption. Cast Memories & Stories Creating Magic Creating "magical" moments for their guests is what sets Disney Cast Members well apart. It may be something as simple as a warm smile, or perhaps telling silly jokes to guests in line, to keep them occupied and enterained. Or it can be going the extra mile to solve a problem or dilemma for a guest, anticipating a need and filling it without even being asked, doing the unexpected. Cast Pranks Take a sometimes monotonous job, mix in an often young and exhuberant Cast, looking for a way to break that monotony, and you've got a recipe for an ongoing series of good-natured pranks. Stupid Guest Tricks There's a long-running joke among the Cast that guests deposit their brains in bins at the turnstiles. Ordinarily intelligent, responsible people do the stupidest, most dangerous, and sometimes just plain funny things in a Disney park. Universe of 101 The astoundingly complex Traveling Theater and related mechanisms used to be quite prone to breaking down. Some Cast Members dubbed it "The Universe of 101", for the code ("101") used to indicate an inoperative attraction. Downtimes or "101s" at Universe of Energy made for some interesting situations. Miscellaneous Stories Various stories and memories that don't fit well into the categories above.
