Filthy Lucre

Progress City is a worker’s utopia, so we don’t often sell out to the man or shill for corporate interests. But sometimes, a deal is just too too sweet…

Anyway, thanks to this post by George at Imaginerding, I discovered some great Disney books with freakishly high discounts on Amazon. After a little sleuthing myself, I uncovered other titles that are on sale. Some of these titles are 80% off – sweet sweet savings of 20-30 devalued American dollars! So check below and stoke that economy before it collapses – at least we can burn the books for heat after peak oil hits!

Oscar Season in Progress City

Now playing at the Progress City Googleplex…

There Will Be Blood On The Saddle“I drink your honey! I drink it up!”

I have to say, I think the graphic violence was a little over-the-top. Still, Big Al has cemented his reputation as one of our generation’s finest actors. Liver Lips kinda phoned it in, but that guy is just in it for the paycheck I hear.

Still Cookin’

Ratatouille

Despite all appearances, we haven’t packed up and moved out of town. Things have been pretty hectic in that pesky “real world” ; I don’t know how you crazy kids keep it up with your blogging and hula hoops and dungarees and what-not with your twenty-two skiddo and Stutz Bearcats and the sock hops and such…

Anyway, I wanted to drop in to offer congratulations to Brad Bird and company for Ratatouille‘s Academy Award win last night. The film, nominated for five awards, won the Oscar for Best Animated Picture of the year. Frankly, I’m bewildered as to how it didn’t win for Sound Mixing and Sound Editing, and I’m terribly disappointed that the brilliant Michael Giacchino didn’t win for Best Score. Still, Best Animated Film isn’t chump change and we wish Bird and co. the absolute best on his next project, 1906. See some of Bird’s Oscar comments here.

Fifth Theme Park!!!1! ZOMG!!@!1!

There has been an explosion lately of rumors concerning a future fifth gate for the Florida property. Things came to a head this morning when Jim Hill posted a story with the exclusive “scoop” on the long-rumored new Walt Disney World park. Far be it for a humble Tiki god to declare shenanigans on a fellow Disney blogger, but from looking at the web searches that visitors have used to find this page over the last several months it’s obvious that there’s a great interest in rumors about a fifth gate, and I can’t help but to weigh in with my opinion on this story.

On A Carousel…

Carousel of ProgressThere’s a subject that has been a steady source of discussion on Disney fan forums for at least a decade now – what is going to happen to the Carousel of Progress? This attraction, one of Walt’s own, now exists only at Walt Disney World in Orlando and, at least seemingly, has teetered on the verge of extinction for years. So let’s take a step back and look at the problem that has kept old-school Disney fans on edge for all this time. What is going to happen to the Carousel of Progress? And more importantly, what should happen to this legendary attraction?
