The cleaning lady strikes again! I agree with Disney’s “one-team” initiative… but this team needs a new captain. What about Matt Ouimet? Oh, wait, no…. nevermind….

    Matthew 24..

3 While he was sitting upon the Mount of Olives, the disciples approached him privately, saying: “Tell us, When will these things be, and what will be the sign of your presence and of the conclusion of the system of things?”

4 And in answer Jesus said to them: “Look out that nobody misleads YOU; 5 for many will come on the basis of my name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will mislead many. 6 YOU are going to hear of wars and reports of wars; see that YOU are not terrified. For these things must take place, but the end is not yet.

7 “For nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be food shortages and earthquakes in one place after another. 8 All these things are a beginning of pangs of distress.

Here’s what I don’t understand- Why is everyone acting like this is such a huge change?

Meg Crofton was promoted into a position that more or less approximates the position held by Al Weiss up until a few weeks ago. Everyone acts like Meg is going to start burning down buildings at Disneyland and murdering CMs and guests, but what makes Meg so different than Al? Maybe my memory is fuzzy, but I’d have to say if anything, Al’s tenure at WDW from 1994-2005 was even more damaging than under Meg’s leadership from 2005 to the present.

We lost Al for Meg. As far as I’m concerned, the two aren’t all that different. Why the panic?

Do I spy Hidden Mickeys in that mushroom cloud?

(Or is that Bozo the Clown…and I’m not talking Crofton)

I see Bozo the clown too. Hidden Bozo.

  • Bozo was the second thing I saw, actually. He’s more prominent when you zoom out – DEFINITE Bozo. In fact, it was so strong I wondered if this had been a doctored image.

The first thing I saw, though, when I saw the full-size image, was the Broccoli from Kitchen Kabaret. At least that keeps it on-theme.

    LOL @ Eddie.

To Mark – I agree that this isn’t as apocalyptic as some are saying, and this was all a bit tongue-in-cheek (although it certainly ain’t good!). It’s nowhere near the level of badness as when Pressler was promoted, although I hope that’s not the bar by which we have to measure future management. And Crofton’s tenure at WDW, while definitely undistinguished, didn’t see the obvious decline that we saw under Al Weiss. So going from Weiss to Crofton may not be a drop, but it’s certainly not much of an improvement. She’s another empty suit; a hatchetperson who neither leads well or knows or loves the parks.

I just long for things to get *better*. For “not completely a disaster” to no longer be the metric by which we measure these things. And for heavens sake, get some people who enjoy the parks to run the parks.

Amen to that. But I’m afraid to ask… Is there anyone left in the executive ranks of P&R to whom the description “enjoy the parks” (or even “has a base-level knowledge of what the parks are/are supposed to be”) still applies?
