In Shanghai, tomorrow has already arrived and so Disney has finally and officially announced the Shanghai Disneyland project. Disney released the first renderings for the park on its blog, and Imagineer Bob Weis, who has been Tweeting pictures from the construction site, posted this brief video of the groundbreaking: So what have we learned [...] Way back in the day, the Disney Channel showed content that was related to the Disney films and theme parks. And so it was in 1989, when the channel created an hour long special to celebrate the newly-minted Disney-MGM Studios Theme Park in Florida. Hosted by TV’s Fred Newman, then one of the adult stars [...] Um… Executive Vice-President, Senior Creative Executive for Walt Disney Imagineering Tom Fitzgerald has been appointed as the senior imagineer for the Disneyland Resort. Disneyland portfolio leader Tony Baxter and Disney’s California Adventure portfolio leader Bob Weis now report to Tom Fitzgerald. Yep. That. While I was writing about Hong Kong Disneyland, news apparently continued to happen. On the subject of Hong Kong, there was a key provision of the expansion deal that I neglected to mention. It was reported, and widely reiterated in the press, that two of the new areas – Grizzly Trail and Mystic Point – [...] STOP THE MADNESS!! It’s no secret that I think that the Hollywood Studios (née the Disney-MGM Studios) is in pretty dire straits – that it needs far more money and attention than the other Florida parks to get it up to code.
