Star Tours 2 (2011) – The long awaited upgrade to this Tomorrowland attraction should open in Spring 2011.
Buena Vista Street (2012) – The current entrance to California Adventure will be completely rethemed to resemble Los Angeles in the 1920s. The concept is that guests are arriving in California at the same time that Walt Disney moved to the west coast in 1923.
Carthay Circle Theater (2012) – The central icon of the new entry area will be the Carthay Circle Theater, a replica of the historic Hollywood theater where Snow White and the Seven Dwarves debuted in 1937. Originally, the building was supposed to house a multimedia tribute to Walt Disney, but that plan has allegedly been scrapped.
Red Car Trolleys (2012) – These long-lost relics of the original Los Angeles mass transit system will return to provide transportation for California Adventure guests. The route for these famous red electric trolleys will connect the park’s entrance and Buena Vista Street with Hollywoodland and the Tower of Terror.
Toy Story – The Musical (2011) – POSTPONED – The Hyperion Theatre in the Hollywood Pictures Backlot will lose its current show based on Aladdin and receive a new musical based on Toy Story. The new show was originally created for the Disney Cruise Line. In May of 2010 this change was delayed, and pushed back to a later phase of remodeling that would allow the entire Hyperion Theatre to be redesigned.
The Little Mermaid: Ariel’s Adventure (2011) – This dark ride based on the classic Disney film is under construction on the site formerly occupied by Golden Dreams.
Goofy’s Sky Skool (2010) – This will be a thematic layover to the Mullholland Madness coaster, until the attraction can be replaced during future expansion.
Paradise Pier Retheming – Various shops and facilities along Paradise Pier will be either removed or rethemed to fit better with the area’s Victorian seaside setting.
Paradise Garden (2010) – Two of Route 66′s tacky eateries – Pizza Oom Mow Mow and Burger Invasion – will be rethemed to match Paradise Pier’s Victorian styling. The “S.S. rustworthy” playground will be demolished.
Goofy’s Sky Skool (2010) – This will be a thematic layover to the Mullholland Madness coaster, until the attraction can be replaced during future expansion.
Cars Land (2012) – The unfortunately named “Cars Land” is under construction on the former Timon parking lot. The 12-acre expansion is based on Radiator Springs from Pixar’s Cars.
Radiator Springs Racers (2012) – This massive E-ticket attraction is based on a more advanced iteration of the ride system used at EPCOT’s Test Track. Its two tracks allow for guests’ cars to race each other through the deserts of Radiator Springs.
Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree (2012) – A carnival spinner ride.
Luigi’s Roamin’ Tires (2012) – Disneyland’s legendary Flying Saucers make a return of sorts in this new attraction. Guests will board individual “tractor tires” that will hover and bounce around.
