Back in the day… wait for it… the Disney Channel showed content aimed at us theme park fans. Crazy, I know, but true! One special I remember well is 1986′s A Dream Called Walt Disney World, which aired in conjunction with the resort’s yearlong 15th anniversary celebration. The hour-long special gives a history of the [...] Ah, the good old days. This is an ad for the then-fairly-new Disney Channel from the fall of 1984. Youngsters who missed those heady days might be shocked that there’s material aimed at an audience older than seven years old. Crazy, I know! It tells the story of Walt’s life, and continues from there through the events of 1984 and beyond. The issue came to my notice thanks to a tweet by the great Frank “TV’s Frank” Conniff, but I soon discovered via Twitter that many other Disney fans were well aware of the phenomenon in question.
